Leave Iceland alone & Why are councils hoarding?

Gordon Brown is a scumbag.  Pure and simple.  Did you see his evil face on the train on the way to Birmingham on the news yesterday?  That he could use the terrorism act against a gentle Nordic people such as the Icelanders, whose economy is teetering on the brink of ruin, shows why Brown is simply not fit to be our Prime Minister.  It is an illegal act by Brown that brings shame on us all.

Brown says the actions of Iceland to freeze the funds is an “unacceptable act”, but the unacceptable act is what he has done.  This is Brown who (again illegally) won’t help the Scots, claiming they are devolved, but monetary policy – and bank compensation – are not devolved matters: at least the reliable John Swinney is on the case.

Councils invested money in Icelandic banks, despite the credit ratings having been reduced earlier this year.  Brown says he won’t bail out councils, but is trying to get Iceland to do so because he has already blown (or at least committed) £500 billion of taxpayers money — and our children’s money, yes even little kids in their pushchairs will end up paying for this disastrous policy when they are adults.

Why were councils hoarding so much money in the first place?  These sclerotic bureaucracies exist only to feather their own nests, and should in fact be culled – and cut down in size.  A good way to avoid tax rises due to the £500 bn bank bailout is to slash these local bureaucracies, and perhaps even amalgamate them.  The likes of Kent and Nottingham Councils would not even offer rebates to their residents, but instead hoard the money away.

But perhaps such local bureaucracies will, instead, be increased in this new Socialist Britain that we live in?  (Time to emigrate to China methinks.)
